Woodside is submitting a 5-year revision of the North Rankin Complex (NRC) Facility Operations Environment Plan in accordance with the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Environment) Regulations 2023 (Cth). The NRC, which has been in operation since 1984, is a single integrated facility which is comprised of two fixed and interconnecting platforms, the North Rankin A (NRA) platform and the North Rankin B (NRB) platform. The facility is located offshore approximately 135 km north of Dampier, Western Australia, in Production Licence WA-1-L in the Carnarvon basin. The NRC produces dry gas and condensate from the North Rankin, Persephone and Perseus fields and delivers these hydrocarbons via two export trunklines (1TL and 2TL) to the onshore Karratha Gas Plant for processing. The approximate length of these two export trunklines in Commonwealth waters is 105 km and are located in Pipeline Licences WA-1-PL and WA-10-PL. The NRC consists of 32 production wells (30 platform and 2 subsea, noting one platform well is suspended and not producing), installations (e.g. wellheads, production and pigging manifolds and flowlines), riser platforms and two gas trunklines. The two subsea wells are tied back to the NRC from the Persephone field via a 7 km pipeline. Activities proposed to occur within Production Licence WA-1-L and Pipeline Licences WA-1-PL and WA-10-PL include: • Routine production of dry gas and condensate • Routine and non-routine operations of the NRC facility and associated subsea infrastructure • Routine and non-routine inspection, monitoring, maintenance and repair (IMMR) of the platform, export pipelines and associated subsea infrastructure • Platform well intervention, workovers and clean-up activities. The NRC facility will operate 24 hours a day for the 5-year duration of this EP. The NRC platforms are marked on nautical maps surrounded by a 500 m exclusion zone to shipping. The Persephone pipeline and the two export trunklines are also marked on nautical charts. |
