Activity Description |
---|
Woodside Energy (Australia) Pty Ltd (Woodside) is preparing to remove equipment from the Stybarrow field as part of final decommissioning activities in Production Licence WA-32-L. The operational area for the equipment removal is approximately 56 km north-west of Exmouth and 24 km from the Ningaloo World Heritage Area, in water depths ranging from approximately 810 m to 850 m. The Stybarrow field includes 10 wells (production, water injection and gas injection) and associated subsea infrastructure. These wells will be permanently plugged under a different EP as part of the Stybarrow field decommissioning. All subsea production equipment was flushed of hydrocarbons during cessation of operations prior to the floating production, storage and offtake facility leaving WA-32-L, except for one flowline that was blocked, sealed, and parked on the seabed during production. The EP includes the removal of the disconnectable turret mooring (DTM), DTM mooring legs, risers, flowlines, umbilicals, Xmas trees, jumpers, and ancillary equipment (e.g., anode skids, umbilical termination assemblies, etc.). Removed equipment will be returned to shore for recycling, reuse, or disposal. Activities to ensure the integrity of equipment in the Stybarrow field prior to removal and undertake environmental monitoring are also included in the EP. These activities will satisfy part of the requirements of General Direction 833. The activities within the scope of the EP may occur at any time following acceptance of the EP. Removal activities are planned to occur cumulatively over approximately six months, subject to weather, project schedule requirements, vessel availability, approvals, or unforeseen circumstances. Removal of equipment will be completed prior to 31 March 2025. Environmental monitoring is planned to be completed no later than 12 months following removal of equipment. |
