Project - Gorgon

Description of project

Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, on behalf of the Gorgon Joint Venturers and Jansz‐Io Joint Venturers, has developed the Gorgon Foundation Project (GFP), which comprises production of hydrocarbon gas from the offshore Gorgon and Jansz‐Io gas fields and transport via a pipeline to a gas treatment plant (GTP) on Barrow Island. To maintain gas supply for the GTP, the subsea gathering network in the Gorgon and Jansz–Io gas fields is being expanded.
Commissioning and start‐up activities occurred in 2015 and operations are expected to continue for the nominal operational design life of 50 years. Inspection, maintenance and repair activities may occur at any time during the operations phase, and these activities are supported by vessels and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) where required.
Drilling and well completions, well intervention, and plug and abandonment activities are also ongoing.
The Jansz–Io gas fields are located approximately 200 km off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia in water depths of approximately 1,350 m. The Gorgon gas field is located approximately 130 km off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia, and 65 km north‐west of Barrow Island, in water depths of approximately 200 m.
