Activity Description

The Goodwyn Alpha (GWA) facility, which has been in operation since 1995, is a facility comprising the GWA production platform and associated subsea infrastructure. The facility’s current Environment Plan (EP) was accepted by the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) in 2013. Under the regulations, the EP is required to be revised at least every five years.
The facility is operated by Woodside on behalf of the North West Shelf Project participants. The participants include Woodside Energy Ltd., BHP Billiton Petroleum (North West Shelf) Pty Ltd, BP Developments Australia Pty Ltd, Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd and Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd.
The GWA facility is located in Commonwealth waters approximately 138 km north-west of Dampier. It stands in approximately 131 m water depth.
The GWA Platform is situated in Production Licence WA-5-L. The revised EP will incorporate the associated pipelines located in Pipeline Licences WA-2-PL, WA-9-PL, WA-13-PL, WA-24- PL and WA-27-PL.
GWA is an offshore production platform that produces dry gas and condensate. The revised EP will account for production from the Goodwyn, Perseus, Searipple, Goodwyn GH, Tidepole, Keast, Dockrell, Sculptor-Rankin, Lady Nora and Pemberton area reservoirs. Gas and condensate from these reservoirs is transported via a network of pipelines to the GWA Platform and then onshore to the Karratha Gas Plant for processing.
