Activity Description |
---|
Woodside Energy (Australia) Pty Ltd (Woodside) is preparing to decommission the Griffin gas export pipeline (GEP) in Pipeline Licence WA-3-PL in Commonwealth waters. The GEP in WA-3-PL extends from the pipeline end manifold (PLEM) in Production Licence WA-10-L to the Coastal Waters boundary. Water depths along the GEP range from 127 m at the PLEM to 52 m at the Coastal Waters boundary. The operational area for the activities is approximately 41 km north-west of the town of Onslow, 20 km west of Thevenard Island and 18 km north-east of Serrurier Island. Activities within the scope of the EP include maintaining the GEP until it is removed, removal of the GEP, and environmental monitoring activities. These activities will satisfy part of the requirements of Generation Direction 832. Activities upstream of the PLEM and downstream of the Coastal Waters boundary are beyond the scope of the EP and managed under separate approvals. The activities within the scope of the EP may occur at any time following acceptance of the EP. Removal activities are planned to occur over approximately 2 to 4 months, subject to weather, project schedule requirements, vessel availability, approvals, or unforeseen circumstances. Removal of the GEP will be completed prior to 31 December 2024. Maintenance of the GEP prior to removal is not expected to be required, but may occur at any time prior to removal if required. Environmental monitoring is planned to be completed no later than 12 months following removal of the GEP. |
