Esso has developed this EP in accordance with the applicable legislative requirements, to manage the environmental impacts and risks associated with JUR Well Work Barracouta activities, to be completed by a jack up rig (JUR) within the Petroleum Safety Zone (PSZ) at the Barracouta Platform in the Gippsland Basin.
The JUR Well Work Barracouta Operational Area (OA) for the purposes of this EP lies within Production License VIC/L02 and is defined by the existing 500m PSZ around the Barracouta facility, whilst the activity is taking place at that location. The activities included in the scope of this EP are JUR positioning, plug and abandonment (P&A), well workover, conductor pulling, support vessels activities, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) activities and use of helicopters.
The earliest date of commencement of JUR Well Work Barracouta is expected to be in Q4 2025 when the JUR completes the previous activities. It is expected that the P&A and workover of up to nine wells will take approximately 120 days (inclusive of JUR positioning activities), dependent on weather, scheduling and operations performance.
