Beach Energy (Operations) Limited (‘Beach’) proposes to undertake subsea installation and commissioning activities (the activity) associated with the Otway Offshore Phase 4 Development within petroleum production licence VIC/L23.
The activity area is located within the Otway Basin in Commonwealth waters, approximately 45 km southwest of the Victoria coastline at its closest point. The closest major town is Port Campbell, located approximately 54 km northeast of the northeastern boundary of the activity area. The Apollo Australian Marine Park (AMP) is located 47 km east of the activity area. Water depth at the proposed installation location is approximately 83 m.
The scope of this EP includes the installation of tie-in spools, electrical flying leads (EFLs) and hydraulic flying leads (HFLs) to connect new production wells (Geographe-4 and Geographe-5) to the existing gathering systems. The activity will be undertaken using a construction support vessel (CSV).
The activities assessed under this EP include:
Removal and recovery of the Geographe-3 rigid spool;
Installation of two rigid spools between the existing manifold and the new Geographe-4 and Geographe-5 production wells;
Installation of six EFLs and two HFLs, including on-bottom stabilisation; and
Commissioning program, including production spool leak testing and electrical and hydraulic function testing.
The proposed activity will be undertaken over a period of up to 30 days from the start of November 2021 to the end of April 2022, with the exact timing for commencement and completion being dependent upon vessel availability, granting of EP approval and sea state conditions.
The EP is a revision of the accepted Geographe Installation and Commissioning EP (Ref 5525) to cater for a delay in the drilling program resulting in a knock-on delay to the installation and commissioning program. This delay takes the activity outside of the accepted window of operations. There is no change to the previously accepted activity.
