The Montara Development Project (MDP) is located in Commonwealth waters within Production Licences AC/L7 and AC/L8 in the Timor Sea, between Australia and the island of Timor approximately 690 km (373 nm) east of Darwin in a water depth of approximately 77m (LAT) (refer to Figure 4.1). The MDP includes developing the Montara, Swift, Skua and Swallow fields and operating the developed facilities for commercial production of the oil reserves. Oil is extracted from production wells in each of the fields and transported in flow lines to the Montara Venture Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility, via the Montara Well Head Platform.
The Montara Production Drilling Activity involves the sidetrack, drill and completion of one horizontal production well (Montara H5 ST-2) at the Montara Wellhead Platform with a planned duration of approximately 60 days and are scheduled to commence in September 2017. Timings are subject to weather and operational efficiency and so the proposed timetable is therefore September 2017 to February 2018.
