As titleholder on behalf of its joint venture participants, INPEX Ichthys Pty Ltd (INPEX) is proposing to continue the existing drilling, well flowback and completions campaign (hereafter referred to as the Project or development drilling campaign) in the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin. The Project will consist of the drilling and completion of up to 20 wells (grouped in five drill centres) as well as the drilling of up to five (5) early data acquisition (EDA) wells, which are required to optimise characterisation of the hydrocarbon reservoir, within petroleum production licence WA-50-L, associated with the Ichthys Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project.
Drilling well flowback and completion activities will be conducted using a semisubmersible mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU)1 which will be moored to the seabed using a minimum of eight anchors. Typically, two anchor-handling supply vessels (AHSVs) will provide support for the MODU undertaking development drilling activities. The MODU is routinely supported by a platform supply vessel (PSV). Water depth 235–275m at Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT).
The Project area (production licence area WA-50-L) is Wholly located within Commonwealth waters approximately 390 km north of Derby, Western Australia in the North West Marine Region (NWMR of the Timor Sea).
Activity commencing Quarter 3 2015 with continual operations over 3 to 4 years, 24 hours a day.
This information has been extracted from the Environment Plan.
