The Barracouta + Whiting Environment Plan covers all activities relating to hydrocarbon production from the following facilities and transport of hydrocarbons in the following pipelines:
Barracouta and Whiting platforms (Production Licence VIC/L02) and BTA-SHA65 gas lift and BTA-TWA65 gas lift secondary lines;
Tarwhine and Seahorse subsea facilities (Production Licences VIC/L01 and VIC/L18 respectively);
BTA-Shore450 Gas Pipeline (License VIC/PL1);
BTA-Shore150 Oil Pipeline (License VIC/PL4);
SHA-BTA150 Oil Pipeline (License VIC/PL22);
TWA-BTA200 Oil Pipeline (License VIC/PL23);
WTA-SNA250 Oil Pipeline (License VIC/PL24); and
WTA-SNA200 Gas Pipeline (License VIC/PL25).
Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd (“Esso”) is the operator and a titleholder of the abovementioned production licences and licenced petroleum pipelines.
The Barracouta (BTA) platform is located approximately 23 km off the Gippsland coast in approximately 46 m of water depth. The Whiting (WTA) platform is located approximately 34 km off the Gippsland coast in approximately 54 m of water depth. The Tarwhine (TWA) subsea facility is located approximately 17 km to the south west of the BTA platform in a water depth of 43 m. The Seahorse (SHA) subsea facility is located approximately 11 km to the north of the BTA platform in a water depth of 42 m.
Ongoing operational, maintenance, and minor construction (brownfields) activities will be conducted on these facilities and pipelines over the next five years, as well as wellwork operations on the Barracouta and Whiting platforms.
